Georgia Tire Distributor Faces Nearly $192,000 Fine for Hazards - Bloomberg Environment

Mavis Discount Tire is accused of exposing workers to fall, struck-by, and egress hazards at the company’s Buford, Ga., distribution facility. The company faces a proposed $191,895 OSHA fine.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Mavis for exposing employees to fire hazards by failing to ensure emergency exits weren’t blocked.

Mavis also allegedly exposed employees to struck-by and crushing hazards from damaged storage shelving, failed to inspect fall protection equipment and fire extinguishers, and failed to train employees on the safe operation of forklifts.
