BOZEMAN — The Bozeman Public Library continues to implement its fine-free program.
At the beginning of January, the library started the program to eliminate all overdue fines.
The arrangement was made after an agreement between the library and the city to make sure residents still felt welcomed even if they had overdue materials.
Library officials agree so far, it seems to be working.
“That’s no longer a barricade between the library and the community. I mean that’s always been our main goal. Libraries are constantly changing," explained Brittany Dolezal, the head of the Public Services Department at the library. "We’re constantly having to adapt to specifically what the community needs."
The library began testing the “fine-free” program out a couple of weeks ago but may be looking to make this a more permanent solution.
